Falls Park on the Reedy
If you ask for directions in Greenville and someone tells you “down at the park,” they probably mean Falls Park on the Reedy. Even though it is by no means Greenville's only park, Falls Park on the Reedy holds a special place as the crown jewel of our thriving downtown. The park is filled with flower beds and walking paths that meander serenely around the beloved Reedy River Falls (that's right, a waterfall in the heart of downtown!). These paths are often filled with people enjoying strolls along the riverbanks, regularly accompanied by their furry four-legged friends. Over the falls spans the remarkable feat of engineering that is the 345-foot Liberty Bridge. Built to emphasize the falls, the sculptured concrete bridge has a distinctive curve and is the only one of its kind in the entire U.S. The Liberty Bridge offers a lovely view of the park that is sure to make you pause and snap a few photos! Come summertime, Falls Park on the Reedy becomes a stage for kings and star-crossed lovers during The Warehouse Theatre's Upstate Shakespeare Festival. In May and September, families can sprawl out on the lawn in front of a movie projector to watch classic films as part of Fidelity Investments Moonlight Movies series. In any season, you are likely to see proposals, bridal parties, and prom-goers as the falls spread their magic over each and every visitor.
